National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) are a group of arts and cultural organisations in England that receive regular funding from the Arts Council England (ACE). There are just over 800 NPOs allocated funding or the period 2023-2026, of which 75 of them have a ‘Main Discipline’ classification of ‘Museums’ and 154 are classified as ‘Visual Arts’ receiving approximately ÂŁ82 million in funding each year between them.

The aim of this project is to find ways to unlock the knowledge, experience and insights of the funded NPO’s to create campaigns, tools and assets for use across the sector as a whole – thus extending the reach and impact of the funding way beyond its initial remit.

75 main discipline ‘Museums’ – Total funding: ÂŁ35.6 million per year (2023-2026)
154 main discipline ‘Visual Arts’ – Total funding: ÂŁ46.6 million per year (2023-2026)

The funding provided to NPOs by the Arts Council England is intended to support their ongoing operations, as well as enable them to deliver artistic and cultural programs to the public. The funding also helps these organisations to develop their audiences, build their capacity, and contribute to the cultural and economic life of their communities.

What are Core Web Vitals
Core Web Vitals are a set of user-centered metrics that measure key aspects of website performance, such as loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability. These metrics include Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), which measures loading performance; First Input Delay (FID), which measures interactivity; and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), which measures visual stability. Core Web Vitals are important for website owners to understand and optimise for, as they are a ranking factor in Google’s search algorithm and can impact user experience and engagement on the site.
